“I was not given general Science to read in SHS although I had 10 so I resorted to reading Agric” – IGARAGE Founder & CEO

In an interview with McXine Tv on Saturday October 26, 2024, Mr. Charles Korsi Dargbey disclosed how his journey began from a change in his high school program of study to becoming a tycoon in the Ghanaian automobile industry.

Having developed a keen interest in the sciences, Mr. Dargbey, the founder and CEO of IGARAGE automobile services had earlier chosen general science as his first choice and business administration as a second among other programs to read in the senior high school with high hopes of reading either biological sciences or mechanical sciences in his tertiary years.
However, the plan as he wished didn’t work as perfectly as one would imagine since he was given Business Administration to read in Mawuli School when he didn’t have any interest in the business programs at the time.

Feeling totally disappointed with the program he was given, the engineer and CEO revealed how he had to find ways to turn things around in his favor so he could read a program which aligns with his interest leading him to swap class with an Agric student at the time who had also wanted to read Business.
Completing his three-year study of Agric Science with Chemistry and Physics as his electives with excellent results, Mr. Dargbey had admission to further the Agric at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
A decision he contemplated until he had the chance to write the mathematics exam that allowed him to reapply for mechanical engineering in the same institution which eventually got him back to his aspirations despite having started the Agric Program already.

As a result of the resilience and strong will to be on the path he wanted, the struggles he encountered earlier in senior high school has already set him up to prepare for anything whilst pushing and paving the way for himself towards his goals.
This also had given him the motivation and strong believe that everything is possible.

The engineer and entrepreneur continued to tell the story of his career which began with a job at NCR a company that installed and serviced ATM machines across the country to loosing two jobs within 3 years and finally to how his automobile servicing shop was established. Beginning the company with a diagnostic machine to help fix issues with vehicles of friends who knew him as a mechanical engineer, the company was first registered as EAD engineering at a time he was driving in and around Accra fixing the issues of various car owners. Upon realizing the demand for solving the problems after diagnosing other than just diagnosing them, there was a need for more machinery, more hands and expansion which led to rebranding.
Thus, becoming The IGARAGE, now located in Accra along the Dodowa-Adenta road serving Ghanaians and many other vehicle owners with an all-in-one service center delivering very good services to the satisfaction of customers.

Presently, the company has employed a number of individuals as well as created opportunities for many others as the CEO is looking forward to setting up an automobile engineering and training school that could grow and develop the future automobile engineers for the country.
